Bio
Andre was inspired at a young age to work with wood; his father and great uncle were saw filers in sawmills on Vancouver Island. Andre often watched and helped them build many projects out of wood. In high school, he was the recipient of a woodwork award for his well crafted and finished projects. Following a degree in education and working as a teacher/librarian in an elementary school, Andre continued making wooden furniture and projects during his spare time. This hobby eventually turned into a part time job.
Andre works mainly with rare pieces of wood with beautiful colours and patterns. Most of the wood he uses is salvaged from windfalls, logged areas and trees cut for residential and commercial development on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
