Bog Grass Shell Weaving
A traditional bog grass weaving encircles a small abalone shell created by Nuu-chah-nulth master weaver, Charlotte Carpenter. The grass is harvested by Charlotte along the west coast beaches of Vancouver Island near Ucluelet BC. The grass is then hand dyes it to traditional First Nations colours.
The patterns of a canoe, duck, deer and flying eagle are four of Charlotte's signature designs.
