Colourful, playful, practical. Tineke Veenhoven creates 'cougar hats' from remnants, recycling old sweaters and other garments using primarily natural materials but occassionally acrylics with mohair, cashmir or merino wool.  These hats are designed to help protect the bearer against possible cougar attacks by wearing them with the eyes at the back of the head, thus persuading the animal that it is seen.  The hats provoke a playful aspect as well with such sayings as Eyes in the back of my head or as a wakeful disguise when wearer is actually sleeping.
