Honey Bear

"In 2009 we had a mother bear and her two young cubs frequenting the perimetre of our property. I was fortunate enough to take a few photos without disturbing the family. The bears on the west coast are black bears, but the wood burning technique tends to make them look brown. This particular conk from a hemlock tree lends itself to the image of a tree trunk, allowing me to create a bear climbing up or down the trunk. If you look closely you can also see a few honey bees buzzing around." - Kelly Deakin Carter
