Into The Night
A dark interior glaze finish gives the impression of depth of night. "Primitive potter" Nancy Cramer of North Vancouver, BC uses hand made stamps impressed into the clay to tell a story; primative, natural, rugged and west coast. For the artist, the bear imprint captures these elements the most and uses oxides in the glazing and firing process to magnify the imprint detail. The bottom of the bowl boasts symbols like those one would find in a primitive society. Adding to the overall rustic feel, Nancy decorates with treasures she finds while strolling on the beach and in the forest.
