Iridescent, metallic colours from one glaze are created in raku firing.  Clay sculptor and raku artist, Gale LaPorte, of Errington, BC, has designed an octopus with life-like fluid movement and textured details.  Her art welcomes being touched with tactile details such as the octopus arm suction cups.  As raku firing is always dependent on the process and oxides from the combustion of sawdust and shredded paper, each octopus that Gale LaPorte creates is unique.
