Tonquin Park, Tofino B.C.
"The tidal ponds on Alfred's Beach are tea coloured from rainforest runoff. This secluded beach is a favorite of mine and I try to visit here as often as I can - it's magical. The soft peach and brown reflect the warmth of the morning sun on the tidal ponds. This beach is the inspiration of many of my paintings, due to its unsurpassed beauty and diversity."
"My father was a very interesting person and in his later years he purchased two mute swans that he kept at Sprout Lake, Port Alberni, BC. The swans attracted a whole menagerie of birds (mostly ducks). Each day Dad would go down to the lake and call the swans for feeding. Suddenly he would have 25 additional birds arriving with the swans for dinner. It was quite a sight. The two swans seen here reflected in the water are in memory of my father." - Cal Kimola Brown.
