Salmon Egg and Eagle Bentwood Box

This traditional bentwood box was hand made from old-growth, tight-grain yellow cedar, then fitted with a red cedar base and lid for a wonderful contrast of rich colours. After being steam shaped, the box's four sides were hand carved to represent two images of salmon eggs and two images of eagles, with inlaid abalone shell to define the eyes. Here, Snaw-naw-was First Nations master carver Brian Bob demonstrates his 'circle of life' philosophy where Salmon gives life to Eagle.
