Salmon Spirit

This is hand carved and darkly stained yellow cedar Salmon with two Eagle heads carved into the body by Snaw-naw-as First Nation artist and master carver, Brian Bob. Circles of Abalone shell are inlaid into the tail and the eyes of both Salmon and Eagle. Brian's belief in the Circular Way of Life is honoured here; all life is one. Eagle's spirit lives within Salmon; Salmon provides food for Eagle; the spirit of the fish lives on in the bird.
