West Coast Fishing Camp

"This painting was inspired by the First Nations fishing camps on the west coast of Vancouver Island, dating back around 1800. The fishermen stayed on shore in the tents and went out in their canoes to harvest their catch. They lived off the bounty the ocean provided.

It is painted in my soft impressionist style. I hope to express a feeling of strength and beauty in this painting." - Dorothy Jarvis
