Bio

Courtney Powell has been in and around the coastal forests of Vancouver Island all of his life. This has enabled him to find many amazing pieces of wood used for his free-hand, carved and lathe-turned vessels and masks. Many of his pieces are created from the salvaged wood of thousand-year-old, and older, trees.

Courtney has great reverence for Mother Nature and her beauty. He recognizes that she is the artist who has done most of the work on his pieces.

Artist Statement

My free-hand vessels and masks are very exciting for me. No borders, no right or wrong, just go and do as I am guided. I give many thanks for this gift of freedom.
