These shorepine trees have a different look from the rest of the West Coast rainforest trees. The  shorepine grow to be hundreds of years old, stunted, only meters tall with unique and sometimes twisted shapes. They are found in bog areas close to the Pacific ocean.

This image was taken on the Bog Trail, a 0.8 km boardwalk loop near Wickaninnish Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
