"Ah, Julia Passage...it's one of my favourite spots. Being rocked to sleep, waking to otters running, squealing and scratching on and beneath the deck. I recall fishing, kayaking, and picnicking on the beaches and checking out the tidal pools in the Broken Group Islands. Eating fresh prawns after pulling the traps and at times discovering surprises like slime eels, spiny sea stars and once a small octopus that, when let go, propelled itself into the depths in a spray of black ink. These adventures inspired this artwork and have inspired many others as well.     -Shannon McWhinney
