Bio

Mel Good and Cathy Alleck are both master carvers from the Snuneymuxw Nation (Nanaimo) and have taught their art to their children; Mel Good Jr,  Robin Good, Celestine Alleck. They are now grown and carry on their carving traditions.  This family of artists work mostly in yellow cedar with a dark and highly polished finish which brings out the deep shadows. Sometimes they use abalone shell inlaid but they do not use coloured paint on their carvings. Mel's aboriginal name is Mama-mataeus (from the wolf people).
