Mary Christmas
Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada
Mary Christmas first moved to Ucluelet in 1968 where she found her first glass ball (Japanese fishing float). Today, at the age of 72, Mary walks the beach every day. She continues to find time-lost treasures and pieces of history offered back from the sea.
Mary is a self taught photographer. She uses FUJI film and takes full frame images with no computer enhancements, then waits for the results. Her "Country Focus" photo cards have been an inspiration for a self published book "Fishers and Foreshores: Canada's West Coast" and can been found in both Reflecting Spirit Gallery locations.
Living in the village of Ucluelet, walking the beaches each day, Mary is instrumental in and dedicated to keeping local shorelines clean of washed up debris and garbage, which she collects and carries off in her bucket.
