Lennard Light Storm Force
Painter Ursula Banke has always been inspired and awed by west coast storms. Her delight is to ride the waves as she creates them, the wilder the better. As a finishing touch, she makes sure to add a family of seagulls (and to join them as they dance on the wind). In this painting she conveys the energy of the Pacific Northwest coastal storm-force winds.
The viewpoint of this acrylic painting is from Sunset Point on Cox Bay. From here, you can watch the biggest and wildest waves surging and breaking against Frank Island. The wind catches and breaks off the tops of the waves, making them airborne. In the far distance is Lennard Lighthouse, located on Lennard Island which is located across the channel from Chesterman Beach.
