About This Category
Surface designs, texture and pattern along with artistically drawn images are scribed into the surface of a softer stone such as soapstone and alabaster. This type of engraving is done with a sharp tool, like one would use a pencil. For the harder stone, such as marble, the images are engraved in with the use of a small dremel or rotary tool that carves the stone away to create a grove forming lines and patterns.
