Indian Head with Feather
This First Nations profile wood carving features red cedar, a valuable wood which has been used for survival and art throughout history by First Nations people in Western Canada. Norm Moyen, of Metchosin, BC designs and carves each portrait then uses a wood-burning technique, his signature style. After carving the wood, Norm brushes clean the burned areas bringing to light the texture of the raised grain in contrast to the dark finish.
