Steller Jay
Greatly inspired by the beauty in the nature surrounding her, Ucluelet Artist Allison Tremain often represents in her artwork the birds and wildlife of British Columbia's Pacific Northwest Coast. For this print titled Steller Jay, Allison Tremain portrays British Columbia’s provincial bird, using a process known as lino block printmaking.
The printed image is created by first carving a soft rubber pad to which ink is rolled onto the raised surface. Then paper is placed on top of the inked surface and pressed, creating a unique print.
