A continuous basket-weave pattern spirals around the circumference of this elegant stoneware vase. Influenced by woven baskets, potter Gail Carlson hand carved the wheel-thrown vase before drying. Burnishing (rubbing it smooth) the damp clay, smooths and gives a shine to the natural rough texture of the clay. The interior has been left natural and unglazed. This is a decor vase only and is not watertight.
