Whale Tail, On Stone Base
Whale-watching in Tofino and Ucluelet is a favorite activity captured in these whale's tail mementos hand carved by BC wood carver, Norm Moyen. Crafted from spruce, Norm lightly burns the surface enhancing the wood grain and creating the black finish. These three-dimensional, free standing spruce carvings are mounted on a polished stone base for viewing from all sides.
Gray whales migrate north from the Pacific Ocean in Mexico through Tofino and Ucluelet area every spring. Some whales spend the summer close by. Orcas, or killer whales, and humpback whales also thrill whale-watchers on the west coast with frequent sightings.
