A unique ecosystem comprised of thick Sphagnum moss, metres thick and hundreds of years old, and twisted, gnarled Shore Pine trees, the Bog Trail near Tofino appears almost otherworldly. Because the trees thrive in acidic soil, they are the only tree that grows in the bog. Their diminutive sculptural forms have an enchanted, fairytale-like quality.
