Sun Mask

In some Pacific West Coast Aboriginal histories, heavenly beings were used as masks in dances by certain families who identified with solar encounters. Sun Mask is a collaborated hand carving from western red cedar by Cecil Dawson, the Kwakwaka'wkaw Master, and Russell Tate, the Nuu-Chah-Nulth apprentice.
