Lounging on Raft Cove

Raft Cove is an isolated and remote sandy beach at the mouth of the Macjack River on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Exposure to Pacific winter storms and pounding surf often washes up giant logs which are deposited to rest along this pristine beach.

"We hiked through a swamp with mud up to our knees and then over a very rough trail to the beach at Raft Cove, which is located near the north end of Vancouver Island. Once there, we came across some driftwood that looked like a woman lounging. It made a great image with the wild west coast weather as a background. The beach was deserted and the weather threatened to drive us away. This is a great area to visit, well off the mainstream." - Martin Kaspers
