Local Interest - In the spring, flocks of Bald Eagles can be spotted as they gather to eat the herring and their spawn. In the fall, Eagles gather on the edge of local rivers to feed on spawning salmon. Owls are common here, though seldom seen; their calls can sometimes be heard. Eagles and Thunderbirds are important totems in local First Nation cultures. Thunderbird is 'eagle-like' but has 'ears' and lives in the spirit world.
