Traditional Woven Bog Grass - Basket
Master Nuu-chah-nulth weaver, Charlotte Carpenter hand picks and dyes the bog grasses found along the west coast of Vancouver Island , near Ucluelet, BC.
She uses her grandmother's wooden molds that have been specially carved for shaping of the basket as it is woven.
Whale, Deer, Flying Bird and Traditional Canoe with Four Riders in Traditional Hats, are a collection of Charlotte's signature patterns.
"Basket weaving brings me in touch with who I am and with those who taught me to weave." -Charlotte Carpenter, Toquaht Nation
