Native Heron Plate
In Native culture the blue heron ia a symbol of standing on ones own, self determination, self reliance and also having innate wisdom.
Layers of cut glass are stacked one on top of each other to create this design. The assembled glass heron is placed in a kiln, where at 1470% the glass pieces melt together into a single flat piece of glass. It is then put into the kiln a second time, where it is melted or slumped into a mold to form it's plate shape. It has taken over 30 hours to create collector plate.
