Standing Salmon Carving
This piece is a free-standing, hand carved and stained yellow cedar Salmon, with 2 eagle heads carved into the belly. Abalone shell is inlaid as the eyes of both animals. There is also abalone inlaid onto the tail, representing future unborn salmon within a salmon egg, and therefore the eagle's future as well. Snaw-naw-as First Nation artist and master carver, Brian Bob, is inspired by the 'circle of life' philosophy and communicates this wisdom via Salmon giving life to Eagle.
