Kingfisher
This Kingfisher with abalone inlaid eye and heart is hand carved yellow cedar by Snaw-naw-was First Nation artist and master carver Brian Bob from Nanoose, BC. Brian uses a special finishing technique that enhances the natural colour and grain of the wood while bringing out the light and shadows of the carving. The Kingfisher is a common bird that fishes for its prey along shores of Brian's home base of Nanoose.
