Salmon-One With Eagle
This piece is hand carved and naturally stained yellow cedar Salmon by Snaw-naw-as First Nation artist and master carver Brian Bob. Circular abalone shell defines the eye of Salmon, the eye within each Eagle head, and the fish's tail. Brian uses a special finish that enhances the natural colour and grain of the yellow cedar. The Eagle spirit is already within Salmon, representing current and future generations of the bird. Salmon gives itself as food to Eagle, providing this future. Brian thus brings his belief in the 'Circular Way of Life' to his carving. "All are interdependent on each other for co-existance: 'Aspire2b1."' - Brian Bob
