The West Coast Story
"I spent my first Summer as a Forest Tech working for a small company out of Black Creek, British Columbia. We lived on a sailboat in the Summer months to access remote corners of the Sunshine Coast. On this particular evening, we were moored in Powell River harbour with a view of Texada Island and Mt. Washington in the distance. An eagle was ripping apart a freshly caught fish on the rocks, as tug boats passed with their freshly cut logs bound for Vancouver. Still to this day it was one of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. The heavens opened, and clouds of crystals showered the earth in a comforting glow. The Georgia Strait mirrored psychedelic skies as horizons blurred into fiery neon sparks. It’s a sight that instantly grounds you to the earth and fills your heart with gratitude and love for this coastline. Sometimes it only takes a short boat ride to appreciate your island home in a different light."
