Amphitrite Point Morning Glow
"I like to think of myself as one of those odd, true west coasters, you know, the kind that truly is in their element with big storms, the rain and misty days. So much so in fact that I refuse to ever take a holiday on a hot beach somewhere. My usual uniform of gumboots, a stanfield wool shirt, and a tuque would be pretty out of place in Mexico. Although I must admit that no matter what kind of weather you prefer after 6 months of rain a sunny day is a glorious sight. One January morning it was forecasted the sun would make a rare appearance so I headed to Amphitrite Point to take full advantage by soaking up some sunshine and take some pictures for future paintings. Amphitrite Point in Ucluelet is one of the most spectacular places to watch sunrises and sunsets. While I did get some great pictures for paintings, what really jumped out to me as a must-paint scene I didn’t find where I expected to. Rather on my walk back down the trail to the truck I found the sun lighting up mist cast up by the Pacific and loved it. It was such a calm, quiet and glorious morning alone on the point and even for a rain lover like myself was a highlight of my winter."
