"I first saw the classic wood troller, Sandy Point, up in the cradle, as I was passing by the Nanaimo boatyard years ago. I remember spinning back to take photos of such a beautiful boat. It wasn't until years later while reading "Legacy In Wood" the story of the legendary Wahl family boatbuilders out of Prince Rupert, when it dawned on me that Sandy Point was one of the many classics that the Wahl family built years ago. Wahl boats are recognized around the coast for their beauty and fine craftsmanship.
As a commercial fishing vessel lover, I recently decided to piece together a scene and have some fun with Sandy Point by painting her into this scene from Lemmens Inlet. I snapped the reference photo for the scene after a major downpour as the sun was finally getting the upper hand and lighting up the inlet and giving it a mystical feel."
