"Spring arrives with a bright yellow plant with large tropical looking leaves that emerges out of the black muck. The skunk cabbage, known for it's pungent and to some offending smell rises from the wet soil to give us a new colour on display. I heard it is also locally called swamp lantern and arrives at the same time the black bears emerges from it's den to feed on the new green growth."
